So you see an interesting person online, but you don't know what to say to them? Many people simply write "hey, what's up?" or "how's it going?". women receive dozens of these messages a day, so it won't make you stand out. You need to come up with creative to set yourself apart from everyone else. Here is some helpful advice along with a few tips:
1) Demonstrate That You've Read Her Profile
Believe it or not, there are many guys out there who simply copy and paste the same message to dozens of girls at a time, without even reading their profiles. It is usually easily to spot these messages as they are very vague, and women will often choose not to reply.
For that reason, it's important to demonstrate that you've read a woman's profile before messaging her. Make references to her interests, career or favorite TV show. Anything to let her know that you actually read what she wrote, instead of simply looking at her pictures.
2) Be Playful and Creative.
Teasing/Sarcasm Can Work Well Playful banter can go a long way. Guys will often bring up common interests in their message, hoping that girls will become attracted to them because of this common interest. Stuff like: "Oh, you like baseball? That's cool, I like baseball too." While it may work in some cases, it can also get really boring really quickly. Instead, make a reference to baseball in a fun, unique way, perhaps something like this:
"You're not a Yankees fan, are you? Because if that's the case I'm afraid we won't be able to continue this conversation! ;)"
You may also encounter a woman who writes something like this on her profile:
"If you're the type of guy who listens to country music and eats junk food all day, I'm not the girl for you."
Well, you could begin your message in a silly way like this:
"So I was at home listening to the new Dixie Chicks album and snacking on Potato Chips, when I suddenly came across your profile. Something in my gut tells me that we'll hit it off…"
This opener demonstrates a playful, sarcastic sense of humor and shows that you're not taking things too seriously - plus it's different than 99% of the other messages people send.
3) Ask Questions
It can help to have one or two questions in your message. This will show that you're interested in getting to know her, as well as give her something to talk about. She'll usually respond with a few questions of her own, if she's genuinely interested in you.
4) Use an incomplete sentence for your subject line
Some dating sites allow you to include a subject line with your message. A trick that is sometimes effective is to use an incomplete sentence as your subject line. If the sentence is incomplete, the recipient is more likely to open the message to find out what the rest of the sentence says. For example, you could write a subject like:
"I had no idea that…"
And then finish the sentence in the first line of your message by writing something like "...someone so interesting could be found on an online dating site." Get creative, this is a great way to set yourself apart from all the other messages that have subject lines like "Hey" or "What's up?"
5) Spelling and Grammar
Use correct spelling and grammar in your conversation! Avoid shortcuts like 'how r u?' . Instead, write out the words fully - it will make you come off as more intelligent and mature.
6) Keep it Brief, and Develop The Conversation at the Right Pace
Take your time when having an online conversation with someone. Don't reveal too much about yourself right away, and make her want to learn more about you. Keep your messages fairly brief and don't reply too quickly with a million questions, as you may come off as needy.
